Based on the title above, it's obvious... I Failed Again... I failed to Achieve a Sub 4 timing.. Now i still can't believe it... WHY!!!!! I'm so Disappointed...
Pre-RaceFriday night went for supper after playing soccer.. yup.. i was tempted by my friends to play.. shit!! Had prata for supper and that was my final Carbo loading.. guess what? the very next day i had a slight diaherroa.. Damn it..!! Should have listen to Khai Yau that "minight" curry cannot be trusted.. Nvm.. I slept at 3am and woke up slightly before 10am.. about 6hr ++ of sleep.. din wan to sleep too late as i afraid that i may not be able to sleep early on Saturday Night.. The whole of Saturday i was doing nth but stay at home... thinking of the race ahead.. had MacDonald for dinner.. Go to bed at 930pm.. Guess What? i couldn't sleep.. i keep turning and tossing... Without realising it was already 2am.. This is crazy... CRappY Night.!! No ChoicE but to wake up at 3am.. had 2 breads and watched Arsenal win against A.Villa... While watching i felt tired.. Nono.. i can't fall alseep.. Took a shower.. do some light stretching and dad fetch me to Tampines stadium.. Met Jeremy and Khai Yau.. board the Bus and reached Padang at 5am.. *SiGH* we reached there kinda late, bag deposit was crowded no time for "real" warm up.. all we did was just some light jogging (to the toilet) and stretching... din really do a proper warming up.. CRaP..!!! There were alot of runners for the 42k.. was standing at the back initially.. but jeremy and i squeeze here and there.. halfway thru, the race started.. The problem why i dun like to start at the back is 'cos there are alot of slow runners infront.. i not saying tt i'm fast.. but having to overtake the slightly slower one, took alot of effort... Anyway we found a path on the left tt can lead us all the way to the front.. we jogged our way to the front and b4 i reached the starting point, Jeremy shouted at me.. Gd luck for ur race..!! Wow.. =)
Race Day: 0-10kmStart my watch and off i go.. started slow... feeling gd.. the wind was kinda strong and this makes the run slightly tough.. but still ok.. My foucs is to follow the 4hr Pacer team.. couldn't see any distance marker.. so have to gauge my own speed.. Slowly i passed all the pacer team until i reached Marina steamboat area and i saw the 4hr pacer team.. They are season runners and that explain their excellent pacing.. they really makes me felt more confident..
Time Checked: 10km - 54minsRace Day: 10-21kmComing out from Marina South.. Passed CBD.. i feel really strong and gd.. decided to go slightly faster.. i was thinking stay in between the 345 and 4hr pacer team.. so that at least i still know i'm well within my target.. But... i can't believe that there were another two 4hr pacers right infront.. oh dear.. this is bad... nvm.. i follow the more "forward" 4hr pacers.. Wow.. as i follow them.. i really felt like god.. as in Happy.. The surrounding runners look very focus and serious.. YEs.!! This in turn help to motivate one another runners to keep up the pace.. we were going at arn 5.30min/km.. Reached ECP at arn 18km and crossed the 21km marker somewhere near MacDonald.. Still feeling gd..
Time Checked: 21km - 1hr55minsRace Day: 21 - 30kmAlong the way some of the runners who were following the 4hr pacer team, beginning to slow down.. But somehow i still manage to follow the pacers.. Quad and calf beginning to feel tight.. Oh No..!! I don't wan that cramping feeling to spoil my run again.. i slow down after the U Turn Point and ate the power gel at 26km.. The pacers were abt 10m infront of me.. After i took the gel, i grad some deep heat and apply on my Quad.. i knew i was going to get cramp... but i told myself no matter what i must follow the pacers till i get out of ECP.. Guess what? i slow down consistently after 28km and at 30km i started to walk due to cramp.. TMD..!!!!!!!!
Time Checked: 30km - 2hr46MinsRace Day: 30 - 42.195kmI looked at my watch 2hr46mins at 30km.. and was quite confident tt i will be able to complete the last 12km within 1hr 10mins.. But i was totally WRONG WRONG WRONG..!!!!! The Deep Heat didn't seem to help much after 33km... More and More runners ran passed me.. and that really demoralise me.. i looked at my watch and i knew my target is abt to vanish.. ARGH!!!! i think i was too tired.. miss out some distance marker.. i tot i reach 36km(6km more) at 3hr30mins.. but was surprise that it was actually the 37km marker.. doing some calculation.. hmm.. i tot i could still make it so i tried to take lesser "walk" break and hopefully can finished in 4hr.. But the Sun was too Hot to handle.. Felt really sleepy after tt.. at some point, i was jogging with my eyes shut.. hAiz... in the end i completed my miserable Marathon in 4hr 8mins.. the last 5km in 38mins.. KaOZ..!! tt was super duper slow..
Time Checked: 42.195km - 4hr 08minsAlthough i did achieve a PB.. but this is not what i've been aiming for.. Was Seriously Totally Disappointed... Anyway, need to thank the pacers team for guiding me throughout the 1st 30km.. The volunteers who spent almost half a day for this event and lastly all the RUNSPIRATION for cheering the runners.. :) haha... OH Ya..!! need to thank 1 of Road Marshall who was cheering for me along Republic Ave.. i was totally Shut down along that stretch think arn 39km.. but still could hear her voice.. Sorry for ignoring u.. :)
