Can’t believe it man.. this is the 1st time that I had not go home for 3 weeks. All thank to the confinement in OCS.. haha.. but seriously being confine in there really help me saved a lot of money.. no need to spend on transport, food and entertainment.. Anyway the life there is great.. really gain a lot of experience.. as usual the first few days hardly know anyone.. luckily wei lun is my bunk mate.. both of us are surprise that we r in the same room.. the place is great.. our room is equipped with a PC.. though it was abit old old type one.. but somehow it looks great is our room lol.. sad to sad that we r only allow to surf OCS website as it is intranet and not internet.. alright let me intro my wing to all of u.. I’m in TANGO Wing Platoon 3 Section 2 (haiz.. highest floor again). In OCS they called Company as Wing.. not bad la sound more pro-er.. my Wing was basically a “cleaning” wing.. that what they senior over there told us.. and indeed it's true.. during the 3 weeks we have been doing intensive area cleaning.. Cos our Wing is strategically located in SAFTI.. we r the nearest to dining hall, Cadet Mess, Main Audit and also the canteen.. If there is any big occasion, those big shot will park their car at our parade square.. So have to maintain a standard of cleanliness.. So there u go.. that how we got our nick.. “Cleaning Wing”
Hmm on the first day I was appointed as the section commander.. Sianz.. have to do this and that making sure messages are passed to my section mates.. wahz sound important hor? But ok la.. the job wasn’t that hard.. we had our confident jump, orientation run and tower run.. for confident jump, we had to make our way up to a 5m platform (those diver type) and jump down into the pool wearing our no 4.. 5m what.. sound very short.. but just imagine jumping off from a overhead bridge.. haha.. for orientation run, we had a slow run around SAFTI which our PC brought us to different area inside the camp.. after the run we had our tower run (mini vertical marathon version).. imagine waking up at 4.30am to do this run.. sound crazy? But I like it man.. cos it was fun.. about 10 floors high and we had to charge our way up.. and up there the view was amazing.. I could see CDB area.. on that Saturday, we had our IPPT cat test.. OMG not again.. kena sliver cos of SBJ.. dun care la.. the 2.4km was not bad.. manage to hit 9.31.. and we had a lot of lectures, lectures and more lectures.. make us feel so sleepy sia..
2nd week was very adventurous.. we had our chemical defence lesson and also our 1st field camp in OCS.. for the chemical defence lesson, we wear a unique type of suit with mask and were brought to a room filled with tears gas.. we must take out the mask to experience what is it like.. for the field camp, it was a 2D2N leadership field camp near Pasir Laba camp area.. we are spilt into groups and had to find different check points given to us in an area of about 4km by 4km.. we bash through forest and small hills.. got our muddy.. and kinda surprise that mainland still have such kind of forested area.. tot only can be found in bukit timah that area.. there was one checkpoint we climb up this small little hill of about 76m.. the view was excellent, we could see jurong island and ofcos the CDB.. not bad not bad.. and at night we also did the same things but the different was that those checkpoint were near the road, so doesn’t require bashing thru jungle.. the 2nd day was basically going thru different situational test.. very challenging.. somehow we manage to completed most of the tasks.. then at night came our nightmare.. stretcher!! Carry a guy using STRETCHER!!.. oh man.. all of us knew that we gonna do this cos it like a tradition thing for leadership field camp.. so we went in to sleep at arn 8pm.. we expect a turn out arn 1-2am..
while resting on our ground sheet, my platoon were guessing what time will the turnout be.. some said 12 some said 2+.. and guess what? a guys shouted 5 mins later.. we were like.. can’t be la.. 5 mins later is too early le.. haha.. and indeed it was 5 mins later or rather 3mins after that guy mention it.. we hurried pack our field pack and ran out of our sleeping area and fall in.. as usual, some were slower.. so kena punishment.. we did push up, crunches, jumping jack and a lot more.. and also everything in and out and in and out.. while I was doing those punishment, I was like aiya.. like that only.. then carry stretcher with FBO and go back wing line only mah.. then do lor.. no kick leh.. after that Patrick (71kg) was chosen as the casualty cos he is the heaviest in our section and carried him back using a stretcher.. after crossing the safti bridge, I tought we gonna turn left and back to our company line.. in the end our pc asked us to turn right.. I was like WTF.. it will be damn far cos we gonna walk one big round passing thru Singapore Discovery Centre.. and that’s where the night mare began.. we went up and down the slope.. it was very tiring.. we take turns to carry the stretcher.. along the way our stretcher give way and had no choice but to stop.. once we put our stretcher down, we were kena scolded by our PC.. bo bian had to continue.. sound like no kick hor? But it was really tiring.. I myself was very tiring.. my physical strength had used up and I was using my mental strength for the rest of the journey.. we were the last grp to arrived at the wing line and the rest of the section had to hold up the stretcher and wait for us.. once we reached, we thought everything was over.. KNN.. we had to go one more round (in the end it was half round) again.. all of us were very tired.. shoulders aches, hand strain and legs starts to give way..
along the 2nd round, we put down the stretcher alot of times.. at the moment I was feeling like opting out from this course.. I was thinking, what the hell am I doing there? Can’t believe it.. even a triathlon wasn’t that tiring.. in the end thru our teamwork, mental strength and determination, we manage to go back to wing line.. after we put down the stretcher, we felt relieve.. all of us were thirsty.. but once I put down my FBO, my arms, mouth and head felt very numb.. haiz.. when washing boots, I was still in pain till tears came off from my eyes.. I was crying.. just that those pain just simply unbearable.. I always thought that my mental strength was very strong.. but I was proven wrong at that night.. haiz.. anyway that night I had a very gd sleep.. hehee
Then on that week Saturday, we witness the commissioning parade of our senior.. the parade was great.. they were all very smart.. at that moment I knew that no matter how hard it takes, I must complete this course.. I was to be an officer.. hmm.. the next day was parents visiting day.. almost all of my platoon mates had family came and visit them.. my parents wanted to come but I said no need la.. cos even if they came, also nth much for them to do.. just walk walk arn and visit only.. so I was slacking inside my room.. hahaa..
On the 3rd week.. we had our initiation ceremony at the ceremonial hall.. finally took out the lanyard and got our two white bars.. we also had learned four kind of weapon in that particular week.. wahz piang.. headaches!! Our Endurance Training run.. 5km and 6km..
Somehow earn some Tango points for my section yeah..!! then on Saturday, we book out loh.. Guo Wei parents fetch me and wei lun back to Tampines and I took 15 back.. finally Back home.. =)
